New heating, cooling at Community Center

New heating and cooling units were installed earlier this week for the fitness and aerobics rooms at the Greene County Community Center.

Cost of the two units, a 7.5-ton unit and a 10-ton unit, was $18,500, according to Jefferson park and recreation director Vicky Lautner. That includes a $1,300 hail guard. The design of the original units allowed any hail damage to be repaired, but a change in technology and design in the new units makes repair impossible, Lautner explained. That made the additional cost of the hail guard prudent.

Funding for the units came from PACE, the group established many years ago to fund the construction and later maintenance of the Community Center, and from the city’s motel/hotel tax revenues.
